Sundays In My City

Unknown Mami hosts a beautiful meme on Sundays called 'Sundays in My City', where we get to post photos of where we live basically to make everyone jealous. Pop on over to her blog to get a free online vacation.

I think I need to remember to take my camera with me while running mundane errands throughout the week, so that I have something interesting to show on Sundays. Instead, I went through some of my old photos and found some wildlife we've seen around Calgary and in Banff.

Big Mountain Sheep alongside Lake Minnewanka

these pesky little gophers are everywhere ** see bottom of post for a laugh

I think that tacky-dressed tourists count as wildlife. Atrocious.

this poor ole boy looks past his shelf date

A magpie. A bird I thought was beautiful when I first moved here, until I realized they are scavengers and as annoying as seagulls.

For the grand finale.. outiside of Calgary, there is a museum that is entirely devoted to gophers/prairie dogs. I haven't been, but a friend of mine made the trip out there to see these stuffed vermine. I have to admit that it is quite humorous.

Enjoy your Sunday!!

Fabulous post! I can't imagine driving and seeing wildlife like that on the side of the road! That's very cool. Thanks for sharing your City.

Wow, Stacey. I love the pics :) The gopher museum reminds me of the possum museum in New Zealand. HILARIOUS!

LOVE the gophers! My kids would totally enjoy that too. Makes you wonder about how much time people have on their hands huh?

The second picture is ridiculously beautiful and the museum pics are hilarious.

I keep my point and shoot camera in my purse and that's how I get all my shots for SIMC.

My students tell me of a neighbor that has about a dozen stuffed squirrels in her house!! The prairie dogs win.

The wildlife looks like it could take out a train!! The deer try to kill me every morning running across the road. I can not imagine an elk crossing!!

This post took a turn for the worst at the end there, haha.

BTW, I think your blog is lovely, so I'm giving you the Lovely Award tomorrow (no pressure or requirements, so don't worry.) Just enjoy :)
